Joint CRUSA - FORTE Project to Grant 150 Employability Training Opportunities for Costa Rican Women in Technology

  • Each training opportunity is valued at $10,000 and the call to participate will be open until February 28 of this year.
  • The initiative offers an innovative model for highly dynamic employability training in productive economic sectors through technology.

San José, January 2023. The CRUSA - FORTE employability training program invites women from around the country, and especially from less developed areas, to participate in one of the 150 training opportunities that will provide access to quality jobs with digital technology companies.

Over a period of accompaniment and mentoring, selected candidates will participate in a training process that involves digital technologies and soft skills, taught by various training schools involved in the initiative. Once the training program is completed, these women will be able to enter the economy and actively contribute to closing development gaps in Costa Rica.

The project is called "A Training Opportunity for Women in the Digital Jobs of the Future" and is an initiative from the CRUSA Foundation, within the framework of the EMPLEOCR Challenge and in partnership with FORTE Global, an international start-up that finances high-quality, no-cost education through a model that does not put pressure on the public budget.

The EMPLEOCR Challenge is led by the CRUSA Foundation and promotes innovative models to train human talent in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Likewise, it seeks to strengthen the productive structure in key and/or strategic sectors of the economy, while improving labor market conditions to support creating quality jobs for women in less developed regions.

"In CRUSA Foundation we join efforts and work with partners to move towards a more prosperous, sustainable and inclusive Costa Rica. Within the framework of the EMPLEOCR Challenge, this alliance with FORTE is an excellent alternative that facilitates opportunities for women who are currently unemployed, through the integration of high-quality human talent training, with tools to find jobs, and with these we measure the number and permanence and quality of these jobs, taking as a reference the economic contributions of people to society" says Flora Montealegre, Executive Director of CRUSA Foundation.

The model is highly innovative because it aims to both reduce and overcome the barriers that women face in the labor market, while helping more people enter into competitive dynamics and favoring employment links via hybrid methods (in person, virtual, or bimodal) for STEM areas of the Industry 4.0. Additionally, it offers a highly sustainable investment model over time.

"We hope this is just the first step in a very long relationship with this country. Costa Rica has worked hard to attract some of the most important industries of the future. This partnership CRUSA - FORTE is an exciting new way to help realize that potential, and to realize it fairly by including new opportunities for women from all walks of life", said Dr. Nat Ware, Founder and CEO of Forte.

To begin, the project extends to selecting the participants who will be part of the training process. At the end of this period, beneficiaries will receive support to insert themselves into the economy and thus, actively contribute to reducing development inequalities in our country. The project will document and create evidence on the participants’ labor profile improvements, as well as the benefits derived from obtaining and remaining in high-quality jobs.
